Jeffrey Scharf
Jeffrey Scharf is a playwright, bookwriter, lyricist, songwriter and journalist. His new musical "Young David Copperfield" will be part of Musical Cafe's Spring Showcase June 5 and 6 in Oakland, CA. This follows a successful readings at the Academy for New Musical Theater and the Elite Theatre. His musical "Reunions" (music by Jimmy Calire) previewed to sellout crowds in Ojai, CA. His play "The Three Gifts of Christmas," commissioned by the Elite Theatre, had its world premiere in Ventura. His 10-minute play "Postcards from the Ledge" was produced in Pasadena, CA. His musical "The Kings of Swing" (written with Jerry A. Ranger) had a well-received reading at the Dramatist's Guild. "Houdini Among the Spiritualists" (music by Brian Leader) had a successful reading at ANMT. He is the co-writer of "Life in the Slow Lane" recorded by Roberta Donnay and "I Don't Want to Know" recorded by Spencer Day. His "Banana Slugs Fight Song" is on the songtrack of the feature film "The Baxter." In addition to his career in theater and music, Jeffrey is a long-running newspaper columnist.
